After Internacional’s 4-2 win over Grêmio at Beira-Rio on Sunday, a tunnel flashpoint involved Grêmio left-back Marlon and Inter president Alessandro Barcellos.
According to Globo.com, the pair exchanged words in the corridor leading to the dressing rooms.
Barcellos is known to wait to greet his players and staff regardless of the result. While congratulating them on the display, he was met with mockery and accusations from the opponent.
Marlon insinuated alleged refereeing favouritism towards Inter. Barcellos asked for respect, and Grêmio’s security promptly shut the Tricolor dressing-room door to keep the situation from escalating.
Earlier, in the first half, the No 23 was at the centre of another incident. After the ball had gone out, he booted it away and it struck a pitchside steward assigned to prevent invasions. Inter players confronted him, prompting shoving, and Rochet was shown a yellow card.
