Cabral started twice at the tournament, in the opening draw with Spain and in the round of 32 defeat by Argentina.

He left Estrela Amadora in Portugal when his contract expired in July, and is expected to arrive in Porto Alegre on Tuesday.

The forward came through at Sporting, and has also played for Lazio and Salernitana in Italy, and Olympiacos in Greece.

He becomes Grêmio’s third reinforcement this mid-season, joining centre-back Wallace and centre-forward Matheus Nascimento. The club have a pre-contract in place with midfielder Mandaca of Juventude.
