Marseille have excluded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36) from the squad set to travel to face Le Havre AC on Sunday evening following an incident at the club’s La Commanderie training centre, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The 36-year-old striker was reportedly at the centre of a disturbance on Thursday night after several Marseille players, frustrated by repeated nights spent confined at the training ground, caused disruption inside the club’s sporting residence. Aubameyang is said to have led a group of around ten players through various rooms in what sources described as an attempt to “create some atmosphere”.

However, the situation escalated when an extinguisher was allegedly used to spray Bob Tahri — a member of Marseille’s sporting administration tasked with enforcing the squad’s curfew — along with his bed and personal belongings. Tahri reportedly reacted angrily to the incident and informed senior club officials.

Marseille’s interim president Alban Juster and incoming president Stéphane Richard met with the squad on Friday to establish the facts before deciding to sanction Aubameyang. The former Arsenal and Barcelona forward has since apologised both to Tahri and to the club hierarchy.GFFN | George Boxall
