Although he has just secured Lille OSC’s place in the next Champions League campaign, it is difficult to say whether Bruno Genesio will still be the manager come next August, when the 2026–27 campaign kicks off.
With just a few weeks left on his contract, speculation is rife that the 59-year-old manager may be on his way out. But everything could still change. That, at any rate, is what his chairman Olivier Létang would like to see, having met with Genesio on Monday morning for a season review meeting. According to L’Équipe, however, no decision was reached following the meeting, lending further credence to the theory that the two parties are set to part ways.
A scenario that could well play into the hands of Olympique de Marseille, who, with Habib Beye’s future likely to lie elsewhere, are on the lookout for a new manager.
And that’s good news, as according to the French daily, Stéphane Richard, the club’s new president, is reported to have recently spoken with Genesio, who is not averse to OM’s interest, though his only reservation concerns the club’s budget for next season, which has been scaled back due to the absence of Champions League football. A situation which, whatever happens in the coming weeks, already promises to be fascinating.
