Speaking at a press conference held at the Stade Vélodrome, Marseille president Pablo Longoria has said the club is looking for an offensive target in the January transfer window, but that Marseille does need to improve its economic situation after L’Équipe revealed the club is set to post a €37m loss for the 2024-2025 season.“We need to improve the economic situation of the club,” began Longoria when talking about the upcoming January transfer window. “If I’m looking at the squad, I may need a player that has similar characteristics to Mason Greenwood, who has played at lot of minutes already this season. ““The goal is to reduce the cost of the team, but if there are opportunities, we want to look for an additional offensive player,” finished Longoria. Roberto De Zerbi has yet to find a number 10 capable of playing just behind the striker, where he has tried playing Matt O’Riley, Arthur Vermeeren, and Angel Gomes at points this season. The profile of a winger who could also play at number 10 would be one that could attract Les Olympiens this winter transfer window.GFFN | George Boxall
