It could be a busy end to the transfer window for Olympique de Marseille, however, as confirmed by Bruno Genesio, the chance of seeing any players arrive is very low.
OM have sold Mason Greenwood, Facundo Medina, Geronimo Rulli, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whilst former captain Leonardo Balerdi has left on loan to Roma. Despite those sales, Marseille have not managed to make a single signing this summer. Promises were made to UEFA and the DNCG to significantly cut costs, which largely entailed offloading the top earners. However, the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Geoffrey Kondogbia, both on high wages, remain.
As a result, there is little prospect of Les Phocéens bringing anyone in before the closure of the window on Tuesday. “There won’t be any recruits,” Genesio said in a press conference attended by Get French Football News on Sunday night. “None?!?” responded a couple of incredulous local journalists. “As I have said, three or four [more] players have to leave us for us to be able to register one or two arrivals,” specified Genesio.
