Jonathan David’s (25) departure from Lille OSC has – finally – been officialised. The Canadian is attracting interest from across Europe. One team ruled out of the race is Olympique de Marseille, who did, nonetheless, show a degree of interest in recent months, as confirmed by OM’s sporting director, Medhi Benatia.

There has been significant interest from the Premier League and from Serie A. L’Équipe understands that clubs from both these leagues remain in talks with David.

As per the publication, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli, and Juventus all remain in talks to sign the LOSC forward on a free transfer. It had been reported by Fabrizio Romano earlier in the week that Napoli were in advanced talks to sign the Canada international.

Marseille won’t make a move. “No, we haven’t contacted Jonathan David,” Benatia told RMC Sport show Rothen s’enflamme. He did, however, add that the Lille striker was discussed back in January, at the time that Elye Wahi left OM“When we saw his salary demands, I saw straight away that it wasn’t for us,” he added.
