Martin O’Neill explains what Landon Emenalo will bring to Celtic after delayed transfer | OneFootball

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Chelsea youngster Landon Emenalo on loan following weeks of waiting for the move to be completed.

The left-back had visited Lennoxtown around two weeks ago and underwent a medical after Celtic agreed a deal with the Stamford Bridge club.

However, an injury delayed the transfer and forced the Hoops to wait before finally getting the deal over the line.

Emenalo now arrives at Celtic Park to provide much-needed competition and cover for Kieran Tierney on the left side of Martin O’Neill’s defence.

Speaking to CelticPlayer following his arrival, Emenalo said: “It feels great to have joined Celtic, such a big club with a massive history

“I knew a bit about Celtic, but I realised just how big the club is when I first visited!

“I know the club has such a huge support and that the fans here are so passionate for their club, so I’m going to do my best for them every time I play and try and play a role in our success.

“To have the chance to play for Celtic is very exciting to me. It fills me with confidence and I’m so happy that the club wanted to have me.

“I have spoken to the manager and he’s a great guy with a lot of experience and a great coach, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.

“I’m going to work hard here and do everything I can to help the team and make an impact.

“Coming from Chelsea, it’s similar because of the expectations to win, and here at Celtic you’re expected to win everything, so I’m ready for that.”

O’Neill believes the youngster can offer Celtic qualities at both ends of the pitch and provide valuable depth on the left.

The Celtic boss said: “Landon is a very good player we have followed for some time, he will give us some real quality.

“He has many attributes which I think can benefit us, he is very quick and athletic but also very composed on the ball and while he can defend he certainly gets up the pitch into attacking positions too.

“I know he has a real desire to do well for us and I am sure he will, as he adds strong competition and support on our left side.”
