Thomas Partey will miss Friday’s Riyadh derby as Al-Hilal visit Al-Shabab at SHG Arena in the Roshn League’s fifth round.

Al-Shabab’s German coach Thomas Letsch confirmed the Ghanaian midfielder is out through injury, as reported by Asharq Al-Awsat. He said Partey arrived without a pre-season, impressed in his early minutes, but the club will not risk him so early in the campaign.

Partey moved to Al-Shabab this summer on a free after his Villarreal contract expired. He spent one season in Spain following five years at Arsenal.

He has made two Roshn League outings, coming off the bench in the 0-0 draw with Al-Khaleej before starting the 3-3 against Al-Riyadh. He then missed the fourth-round meeting with Al-Hazm.

Gabriel Martinelli is also unlikely to feature after landing in Riyadh on Tuesday to complete a move to Al-Hilal.
