Mary Earps said she felt “down in the dumps” after her PSG side crashed out of the Women’s Champions League.
Mary Earps saw her PSG side crash out of the Champions League after they were held to a goalless draw with Belgian side OH Leuven on Tuesday night.
It is the only point they have claimed in the League Phase, after defeats to VfL Wolfsburg, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
PSG were expected to beat Leuven but failed to take their chances at the Parc des Princes.
They failed to score despite having 22 shots on goal, thanks to an inspired performance from Leuven goalkeeper Lowiese Seynhaeve, who made six saves.
PSG are now four points off the Champions League playoff spots, so will leave the tournament after next week’s clash with Benfica, regardless of whether they win.
Former England No.1 Earps said she was “gutted” and “down in the dumps” after PSG crashed out of the Champions League.
She said in her post-match interview: “It’s really hard to put it into words. I’m just gutted, super disappointed. I think obviously we didn’t do our job well enough, it’s as simple as that.
“We put ourselves in a difficult situation, having to win and to be fair to Leuven, I think they did a great job. They were resolute, their goalkeeper played well and they were really hard to break down and in general, we didn’t execute (our game plan) well enough.
“It’s been a tough start to the season for us, I think we have to look at ourselves. I know we have had a lot of transition and there’s a lot of young players that are coming in but for me, as an experienced player, I don’t like excuses and we really have to look at ourselves and how we can do better.”
“I feel a bit down in the dumps right now and probably not giving you the most uplifting interview you will hear in your life but just gutted and I know the girls will be feeling the same. They’re a great group and I feel lucky to play week-in, week-out with these girls.”

Mary Earps was in the headlines for her comments on Sarina Wiegman
Earps has been in the headlines a lot during 2025, ever since she retired from international football ahead of Euro 2025.
Her comments about Hannah Hampton and Sarina Wiegman attracted plenty of media furore.
A host of former England internationals gave their thoughts on the autobiography. Fara Williams said Earps needed to be clearer over her “baffling” comments about Hampton while Ellen White said she was uneasy about Earps’ revelations.
Eni Aluko defended Earps, saying she was “entitled” to her perspective while Millie Bright, a current teammate of Hampton’s, refused to speak on the matter.
On the pitch, PSG are mounting a challenge to Lyon in the domestic league, sitting just three points behind after nine games.
However, their Champions League campaign has been a big disappointment. Earps was booed on her return to Manchester United during one of their four defeats in the competition.
