Mason Greenwood has thanked Marseille and their supporters in a heartfelt message after completing a permanent move to Fenerbahce in Türkiye.

Hours after the Istanbul club confirmed his arrival, the forward reflected on two seasons at the Stade Velodrome and the backing he received. According to Goal.com, he has signed a four-year contract, with a €39m fee to be paid in equal instalments over three years.

Greenwood said it had been a privilege to represent the club, described the fans’ support as essential, and wished Marseille continued success.

Marseille sporting director Gregory Lorenzi said the club achieved their financial aims in the deal, opting to cash in while the attacker’s market value was at its peak.

In his debut campaign he produced 22 goals and six assists in 36 appearances to help secure Champions League qualification. He followed up with 26 goals and 11 assists across 45 matches in all competitions.

Atletico Madrid had shown strong interest, viewing Greenwood as a long-term successor to Antoine Griezmann, but negotiations collapsed, enabling Fenerbahce to strike the agreement.

Greenwood will now travel to Istanbul to join pre-season, aiming to adapt quickly and replicate his scoring form. Fenerbahce fans hope their marquee signing can drive a sustained Super Lig title push when the new season starts.
