Pellegrino Matarazzo has turned Anoeta into a stronghold since taking charge in December, with Real Sociedad unbeaten at home under him. As reported by AS, this surge is the team’s main platform as they head to Seville for the Copa del Rey final.
He opened his home tenure with a 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid. In La Liga there have been further home victories against Barcelona 2-1, Celta 3-1, Elche 3-1 and Osasuna 3-1, plus draws with Atlético 1-1 and Oviedo 3-3. The run could last through to 18 April, with Levante and Alavés visiting before the showpiece at La Cartuja.
Cup form in San Sebastián has backed it up. Osasuna were beaten on penalties in the last 16 after a 2-2 draw, and a 1-1 draw in the semi-final second leg against Athletic Club at Anoeta confirmed their place in the final.
Across Matarazzo’s home matches at Anoeta, La Real have scored 30 and conceded 23.
All three defeats of his tenure have come away, at Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabéu, at Atlético in the Metropolitano and at Villarreal in the Estadio de la Cerámica. The contrast underlines an unbeaten home record that remains intact.
