Brentford B are back on the road Monday as they travel to Lancashire FA County Ground to face Burnley Under-21s in the Premier League Cup Round of 16 (7pm kick-off GMT).

After making the final of the competition last season, Sam Saunders’ side will aim to go on a similar run this time around as they embark on the knockout stages.

It’s been two months since the young Bees played in the PL Cup, with the west Londoners rounding out the group stages with back-to-back wins.

With Iwan Morgan (Shrewsbury Town) and Michael Olakigbe (Swindon Town) going out on loan in January and Chanse Headman moving permanently to Harrogate Town, it’s a slightly new-look Bees outfit this time around in the competition.

Saunders also had one incoming in the transfer window, as Joseph Wheeler-Henry joined Brentford B on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The Bees also welcomed new assistant coach Chris Burke last month, who joined from Scottish Premiership outfit Kilmarnock.

Last time out

Brentford toughed out a gritty 0-0 draw with Ukrainian Premier League first team side FC Kryvbas in Spain in their last fixture.

Coming up against strong opposition, Saunders’ side defended strongly and fought out a draw against the side sitting fifth in the Ukrainian Premier League.
