Fresh off a tough away win last time out, Brentford Under-21s travel to Cardiff City on Tuesday in the Professional Development League (2pm kick-off GMT).

The fixture will be the young Bees' last of the month, before a busy February with five games scheduled, headlined by a Premier League Cup round of 16 clash against Burnley on 9 February.

Sam Saunders’ side sit fourth in the league table on 26 points, with nine wins, two draws and four losses coming from their 15 games.

Sheffield United (38 points), Peterborough United (35 points) and Bournemouth (27 points) are the only sides ahead of the west Londoners.

Last time out

A 70th-minute winner from Under-18s winger Domeiro Bobb-Semple helped Brentford take all three points with a 2-1 win over Barnsley last time out.

Fellow U18s winger Naeem Giscombe got the Bees off to a perfect start on 30 minutes with a stunning strike to score his first U21s goal.

His effort was cancelled out by a penalty from Fabio Jalo early in the second half, however it didn’t deter Saunders’ side, as Bobb-Semple found himself in the right place at the right time to tap home from close range to secure the victory.

Previously against Cardiff at Leckwith Stadium, Brentford secured a 3-0 victory en route to winning the 2024/25 PDL national title.

Former Bees Kyreece Lisbie, Beaux Booth and Vonnte Williams each scored in the clash, in what was the ninth of 10-successive victories.

About Cardiff City

The Bluebirds have started the new year with back-to-back losses against Watford and Bristol City.

The Welsh outfit will be back at home on Friday to face Coventry City before they hit the road to take on Bournemouth on 2 February.
