It was not the goal-fest many fans were hoping for: the game between Hertha BSC Berlin and Karlsruhe ends in a goalles draw.
The match was tightly contested from start to finish, with Hertha narrowly avoiding an early setback in their first home game of the season, after defensive mistakes nearly saw Karlsruhe take the lead through chances for David Herold and Marvin Wanitzek.
Hertha’s best opportunity came when Maurice Krattenmacher rattled the crossbar in the 21st minute.
Karlsruhe, remaining unbeaten this season after two games, missed several decent opportunities of their own afterwards and rued their failure to capitalize - KSC forward Louey Ben Farhat admitted: “We've left two points here.”
A significant highlight of the match was the debut of Kennet Eichhorn, who at just 16 years and 14 days became the youngest ever player in 2. Bundesliga history, coming on in the 68th minute.
A point apiece leaves both Hertha still searching for their first win, while Karlsruhe can be pleased with their continued unbeaten start - but both will feel more was on the line in the capital.
