Girona FC signs Mateu Morey. The right-back, who joins from RCD Mallorca, has signed with the Club for the next two seasons and will wear the red-and-white jersey until June 2028.

Born in Petra (Mallorca) on March 2, 2000, Morey is a well-rounded right-back, capable of also playing in more advanced positions. He stands out for his physical strength, speed, defensive ability, and intensity in duels, as well as his capacity to join the attack and reach the final third. His profile allows him to contribute both in the defensive phase and in ball progression and distribution.

Initially trained in Mallorca's youth academy, Morey later moved through the youth ranks of FC Barcelona, where he was part of the youth team that won the 2017/18 UEFA Youth League. During the same period, he also represented Spain at the U-17 level and participated in winning the 2017 U-17 European Championship, playing in 7 matches. He later joined Borussia Dortmund, a club where he completed much of his development and made the leap to professional football.

With the German team, he played 32 matches with the first team, as well as 18 with Borussia Dortmund II, and was part of the squad that won the 2019 German Super Cup and the 2021 German Cup.

In the summer of 2024, he returned to his original club, RCD Mallorca, where he played for the last two seasons. During this period, he accumulated 38 official matches and scored one goal with Mallorca's first team. In the 2025/26 season, he participated in 21 matches, 18 of which were in LaLiga, and scored one goal.

Morey now arrives in Girona at the age of 26 with extensive experience in elite football, having competed in LaLiga, Bundesliga, Copa del Rey, German Cup, and UEFA Champions League. Internationally, he has also represented Spain at the U-17 and U-21 levels.

With this signing, Girona FC adds to its project a right-back with international experience, physical ability, and a proven track record in professional football.
