Having featured for Leeds United almost 200 times, cult-hero Mateusz Klich returns to Elland Road for Sunday’s crunch clash with Manchester United.
The midfield maestro, who made 82 appearances in the Premier League after helping guide the club to the Championship title, will be offering his unbiased – as possible – thoughts on the encounter for international television coverage.
Ahead of the meeting with familiar foes, Klich is excited to be back on his old stomping ground and is impressed with the team’s recent form under Daniel Farke.
“It feels great,” the 35-year-old international exclusively told leedsunited.com. “I always want to come back as a fan and I have the opportunity to come with a Polish TV as a pundit.
“So, I am going to be watching the game from the stands and I just can’t wait to feel the atmosphere again and the crowd. So, it will be good to be here. It feels like home, definitely.
“Lately we are in good shape and the boys are performing, scoring goals and creating chances. So, it is good and hopefully they will keep up with the form because they have to stay up and they definitely can do it. Hopefully they are going to make it.
“I mean every game at Elland Road is special and I remember that obviously the crowd is very energetic and the first 15-20 minutes is something I never experienced probably playing somewhere else.
“Games like against Manchester United are definitely the games that the fans want to see the boys winning and I am sure they will do everything they can to win the game.
“This is obviously the big rivals so it is going to be intense but this is what the fans want – intense, energetic games – so I can’t wait for it to start.”
Speaking ahead of his punditry debut, Mateusz laughed about the prospect of his first time in the role and hopes his coverage will mirror the Whites’ display on the pitch.
“A bit nervous to be fair because I have never done this job before and I am very curious how I am going to do it,” he added.
“But hopefully we will win. It is going to be a good game and hopefully my performance behind the microphone will be also good!”
