Matheus Bidu: milestone at Corinthians, eyes Brazil dream

After the 2-0 victory over Red Bull Bragantino at the Neo Química Arena last Thursday (12th), left-back Matheus Bidu, who scored the second goal for the team, celebrated reaching the significant milestone of 130 games played wearing the Corinthians jersey and spoke about his desire to, in the future, represent the Brazilian National Team.

“I am very happy with this milestone (130 games for Corinthians), with this jersey. I think, thank God, I am evolving more and more with this jersey, and I am very happy to be able to contribute to the team. And who knows, one day, right? I am someone who works for this, to one day, God willing, be able to represent my country. It will be extremely important, and I will be very happy with that”, he began in the mixed zone of the stadium.

The player also analyzed the team's performance in the match valid for the Brazilian Championship, highlighting the consistency shown, even acknowledging that the best performance does not always guarantee victory.

“I think the team is showing consistency in the games. But football is like this, unfortunately, not always in the best matches will we come out victorious. But, thank God, today we achieved a positive result, something we needed in the Brazilian Championship, in the first home game, and it was an extremely important victory”, said the left-back.

Matheus Bidu also emphasized that the team's playing style has been maintained since last season and that the continuity of the work has been fundamental for the recent results achieved by Timão.

“I think Corinthians has been playing this way for a while, and this year it is fitting very well. Last year it also fit well and, thank God, we achieved titles. I think nothing has changed, we continue working in the same way, with a lot of intensity, and the results are coming”, he commented.

The left-back also recalled the period of difficulties he faced at the club, especially in the first months after his arrival in 2023, and highlighted the importance of persistence to experience the current positive moment.

“For me, giving up was never an option. I have always been here, available, trying to work in my best way, and today, thank God, I am able to experience great moments with this jersey. I am very happy with the turnaround, I thank God for everything and I also thank my family, who supported me in the most difficult moments. But, as I said, giving up was never an option and thank God everything is going well this year”, celebrated Bidu.

Finally, the number 21 of Alvinegro Paulista spoke again about the dream of representing the Brazilian National Team, emphasizing that he keeps his feet on the ground while working to achieve this goal.

“I think every athlete has the dream of representing their national team, their country, and I have been working for this. Who knows, one day, if I am dreaming of this, if I am working for this, who knows, one day I can wear and represent the jersey, it will be something incredible. Football is a roller coaster, we will not always be at our best moments. But we have to keep our heads in place, persist and not let ourselves be discouraged by a bad moment, but also not get carried away by a good moment. As I said, I think we have to keep our heads in place and continue working. I dream of this, who knows, being able to represent my national team, dreaming costs me nothing”, he concluded.

Matheus Bidu finished the match with standout numbers, according to the statistics app Sofascore. The left-back recorded one goal, 46 accurate passes out of 53 attempts (87% accuracy), ten duels won out of 15 disputes (game leader), five defensive actions, and 12 balls recovered, maintaining a score of 7.8.

Corinthians will play again on Sunday at 8:30 PM against São Bernardo Futebol Clube at the Estádio Primeiro de Maio, for the last round of the initial phase of the Paulista Championship. To advance to the quarter-finals without relying on other results, Timão needs to win.
