According to Coluna Do Fla, Alverca have agreed a season-long loan for Matheus França from Crystal Palace, including an option to buy, running to June 2027. The Portuguese club is co-owned by Real Madrid forward Vini Jr.

Crystal Palace signed the attacking midfielder in 2023 for €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons, on a contract to June 2028. He did not establish himself in England and later joined Vasco on loan.

França, 22, now seeks the continuity he enjoyed with Flamengo in 2022 under Dorival Júnior, using Portugal to regain rhythm and minutes. The move offers a chance to reboot after a below-par spell at Vasco.

At Alverca he will link up with fellow Brazilians. The squad includes Zé Rafael, formerly of Palmeiras, Bahia and Santos, and Rayan Lucas, a Flamengo academy product who played for Sporting last season.

Flamengo inserted a clause in the deal with Crystal Palace for a bonus if França were to win the Ballon d'Or.
