Galatasaray confirmed earlier this week that Mauro Icardi has officially left RAMS Park as a free agent following the expiration of his contract, ending a trophy-laden four-year spell that delivered back-to-back league titles.
With the iconic Argentine now exploring fresh options in South America, manager Okan Buruk is determined to quickly reinforce his attack to support Victor Osimhen.
Tel, whom Galatasaray’s scouting department has been tracking for the past two seasons, has quickly re-emerged as a leading option.
Coach Okan Buruk is understood to be a strong admirer of Tel, prioritising his versatility—whether as a central striker partnering Osimhen or cutting in from either flank as an inside forward.
Crucially, Tel’s age means he fits perfectly into the under-23 foreign player quota mandated by the Super Lig’s “10+4” regulations.
However, Galatasaray will need to overcome several hurdles in their pursuit of Tel. In addition to the challenge of negotiating terms with Tottenham, the Istanbul club face competition from several prominent Bundesliga sides.
Tel previously developed in German football with Bayern Munich, and a number of Bundesliga teams are reportedly preparing offers to lure the Frenchman back to familiar territory.
Tottenham are reportedly seeking around €30 million to sanction Tel’s departure as they step up their attacking reshuffle after defensive and midfield acquisitions, with a move for Manchester City’s Savinho set to accelerate over the coming days.
