Mathys Tel ‘to stay’ at Tottenham Hotspur amid European interest | OneFootball

RMC Sport reports that Mathys Tel will remain at Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from across Europe. The winger wanted assurances over his playing time, his role in the squad and his short-term future.

French clubs had been monitoring the situation amid suggestions he was seeking a new environment after struggling to secure a starting place. He has made 16 appearances for Tottenham this season, most of them from the bench.

Lille OSC were linked recently, and Olympique de Marseille, Paris FC and AS Monaco were understood to have made enquiries.

Outside France, Atlético de Madrid were considered the most committed to testing Tottenham, while Genoa, Sunderland, Real Sociedad, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburg and clubs in Türkiye also showed interest.

After a discussion with head coach Thomas Frank, the chance to sign him appears to have passed, with Tel now reported to be committed to continuing at the club.
