Wolves sporting director Matt Jackson has travelled to Portugal to meet new head coach Cesar Peixoto and map out plans for next season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, transfer strategy has been discussed, with Peixoto tasked with securing an instant return to the Premier League.

The extent of any shift from the approach shaped by predecessor Rob Edwards remains unclear after last week’s surprise change, though agent Jorge Mendes is expected to be influential after helping broker Peixoto’s arrival.

Reports linking Wolves with Famalicao right-back Rodrigo Pinheiro are believed to be wide of the mark.

Peixoto signed a two-year deal late last week and returned to Portugal. The 46-year-old is awaiting a work permit before he can formally start at Compton Park.

He is keen to have as much in place as possible, with pre-season viewed as key, and talks with senior players are planned before the bulk of the squad report back in early July.

Several squad decisions are pending, including the future of striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who has one year left on his contract. He has made only two league starts in four injury-hit years and spent last season on loan at LASK.

Kalajdzic said he is looking forward to talks, would give his all if he stays, and suggested it might be unfinished business, adding that the summer will decide what is best for both.
