According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves sporting director Matt Jackson has travelled to Portugal to discuss next season’s plans with new head coach Cesar Peixoto.
Transfer strategy has been prominent on the agenda, with Peixoto tasked with delivering a return to the Premier League at the first attempt. Rob Edwards previously played a key part in shaping the club’s window approach.
How much of that direction will shift after last week’s change of head coach remains unclear, though Jorge Mendes is expected to have an influential role after brokering Peixoto’s move. Suggestions of a bid for Famalicao right-back Rodrigo Pinheiro are understood to be wide of the mark.
Peixoto returned to Portugal after signing a two-year deal to replace Edwards at the end of last week. The 46-year-old is awaiting a work permit before he can officially begin at Compton Park, with pre-season considered vital.
Talks with senior players are planned before the majority of the squad report back in early July. Several futures require clarification, including striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who has one year left on his contract.
Kalajdzic, limited to two league starts across four injury-hit years and loaned to LASK last season, is keeping an open mind. He is looking forward to discussions, says he would give his all if he stays, and feels there may be unfinished business, with decisions to be made in the summer on what suits both parties.
