Chelsea have reportedly made a big decision to sign a new player in the current January transfer window in a shock twist.

Most reports leading up to January suggested that Chelsea were going to have a very quiet January transfer window and it will mostly only be outgoing deals we would have to watch, other than players like Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi of course.

And it’s come from a very reliable source as well in Matt Law of The Telegraph, who has the breaking news.

As per the report, Chelsea are ready to make a move for a new defender in the remaining weeks of the January transfer window and give Liam Rosenior a boost to his start as the club’s new head coach.

These plans have now been accelerated from the summer window, which they were going to be doing most of their business rather than now.

What names have been mentioned?

Within the same report, there have been two names mentioned who they could look to try and sign.

Law states that a central defender who can play out from the back would be a big addition for Rosenior. Chelsea have been linked with Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramón, who only joined Como from Real Madrid last summer.

Chelsea have been linked with both players very recently actually, so this could be something to keep an eye on now.
