Andrey Santos has been the big winner from the manager switch to Liam Rosenior, and Matt Law has noted why that’s the case.

The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast today, where he spoke a little about one thing he had noted at the end of Friday night’s game between Chelsea and Hull.

“At the end of the game against Hull there was a really warm embrace between [Andrey] Santos and Liam Rosenior. Almost like father and son type warm. Quite emotional,” Law said.

“He must feel trust, he must feel he can make a mistake and not get taken out of the team. Whereas before, if he had a few bad touches, he’d get taken off at half time.

“It feels like some faith has been put into him.”

The bond the pair have from their shared time at Strasbourg is benefitting both of them.

There’s no doubt that we’re seeing the positive effects of that trust and that relationship with Santos, who never felt any of that from Enzo Maresca. It’s a similar story with Joao Pedro, the other player to have seen a major bump in form since the manager switch.

The “emotional intelligence” we heard so much about Rosenior specialising in already looks to be paying off.
