Shakhtar Donetsk could formalise an offer in the coming days for Santos forward Mateus Xavier. The Ukrainian club have made the player a priority after talks with his representatives.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Shakhtar set out a shortlist of four young attackers with Xavier at the top. Other European clubs are monitoring him, but with the window closed his agents are tracking developments.
Xavier scored five in five at the Copinha, then stepped up to Vojvoda's first team. He featured in the Paulistão against Novorizontino and Red Bull Bragantino, but has not been named in the last four matchday squads.
He debuted for the seniors in 2024 in Série B, coming on in a 1-0 win over Chapecoense on 1 July. His shot was tipped for a corner, from which Santos scored. He later returned to the academy after a spell under Carille.
Under Pedro Caixinha in the Paulistão, he was registered and spent six matches on the bench. He played in the Copa do Brasil first leg at Vila Belmiro and later made three Brasileiro outings. He renewed his contract last year until July 2028 and has seven senior appearances.
A left winger noted for pace, dribbling and finishing, Xavier joined Santos at 14 and has won youth titles including the 2024 Paulista Under-17 and 2025 Paulista Under-20.
