Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly on the verge of moving to Manchester United.

According to fussball.news, both parties have reached an agreement on the player’s personal terms, but financial specifics are yet to be finalised.

The 23-year-old defender is expected to sign a five-year contract with United, potentially extending until 2029.

Talks between the clubs have been positive, yet a final agreement is pending.

United are prepared to pay €50 million, but the exact structure of the deal, including bonuses and payment terms, remains unresolved.

The transfer, which was initially hoped to be completed over the weekend, appears imminent despite the delays.

De Ligt’s arrival could be part of a significant personnel overhaul at Old Trafford, with Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna also targeted to bolster the squad in defence, midfield, and attack, respectively.

United are also monitoring Leny Yoro of Lille.

The French club has reportedly received a €50 million offer, although Yoro is also linked with Real Madrid.

If Yoro joins United, he could either complement De Ligt as a backup defender or potentially arrive on a free transfer when his contract expires next season.

De Ligt’s potential transfer would significantly strengthen United’s defence.

Erik ten Hag previously worked with De Ligt at Ajax, where he developed a deep understanding of the defender’s strengths.
