FLW takes a look at which Charlton Athletic players are set to leave The Valley in 2026 as things stand.

Charlton Athletic have a number of players who are currently set to leave the club as free agents in the summer of 2026 if nothing changes.

The Addicks were busy during the summer transfer window, bringing in a number of players to strengthen Nathan Jones' squad ahead of their return to the Championship, with seven-figure fees spent on the likes of Charlie Kelman, Rob Apter and Tanto Olaofe.

Charlton have since made a positive start to life back in the second tier, and found themselves inside the top ten during the November international break as a result of impressive early season form that saw them beat Sheffield United and Ipswich Town away from home, as well as the likes of Watford and West Bromwich Albion at The Valley.

Jones recently discussed his plans for the January transfer window in an interview with journalist Richard Cawley via his Substack, and the Welshman made it clear that he is pleased with the current state of his squad.

"We know exactly what we are going to go for," Jones said.

"It won't be a massive influx of players or exodus. We're really happy with the squad.

"The only thing we'll do in the January transfer window is strengthen the squad. We won't go backwards."

While Jones is content with the squad of players currently available to him, he will need to trigger a few extension clauses if he does not want to lose certain members of his dressing room next year, while Onel Hernandez is set to be out of contract at the end of December after signing a short-term deal to return to English football's second-tier following his departure from Norwich City.

With that in mind, let's take a look at which Charlton players will depart SE7 in 2026 as free agents if nothing changes.

Matty Godden

Last season's play-off semi-final hero Matty Godden is set to be out of contract in the summer of 2026.

The 34-year-old netted 22 goals in all competitions last term, firing the Addicks to promotion via the League One play-offs.

Godden is nearing a return to regular action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines during the early months of the 2025/26 campaign, and he will hope that he can convince Jones to trigger the one-year extension clause in his contract during the remainder of the season.

The plethora of striking options now at Jones' disposal, however, means that Godden's future would have to remain somewhat up in the air as things stand.

Luke Berry

Luke Berry has been limited to substitute appearances in the Championship so far this season after playing a key role in Charlton's promotion winning campaign last term.

The 33-year-old scored a late equaliser after coming off the bench away from home against Hull City in October.

Like Godden, the midfielder has a one-year extension clause included in his contract, but if that is not triggered, then he will leave Charlton in 2026.

Tyreece Campbell

Forward Tyreece Campbell has featured in every league game for Charlton so far this season, but he is set to be out of contract next summer as things stand.

Fortunately for the Addicks, the 22-year-old is another player who has a one-year extension clause included in their contract.

It would be no surprise if Charlton tried to tie the Jamaica international down to a long-term contract in the coming months, but if they are unable to do that, the club can avoid losing him in the summer of 2026 by triggering that one-year extension clause.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer

Goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer has made 87 first-team appearances for Charlton since coming through the academy, but he now finds himself behind both Thomas Kaminski and Will Mannion in the pecking order at The Valley.

The 26-year-old is set to be out of contract in the summer of 2026, and while the Addicks have an option to extend his deal by a year, it would be no surprise if he left the club in search of regular first-team football next year.
