Cádiz have on Tuesday announced the departure of head coach Mauricio Pellegrino.
As much of course comes after the Yellow Submarine were condemned to relegation to the 2nd tier of Spanish football.
Pellegrino, for his part, took up the reins at Cádiz back in January, following a spell of over a year away from management.
The goal set out for the Argentine at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, understandably, was to guide his side away from the drop zone, and to safety come the season’s close.
Despite a valid effort, however, as much ultimately failed to play out, with Cádiz’s haul of 33 points only enough for an 18th-placed finish.
In turn, on Tuesday, the brass in Andalusia have announced their manager’s exit, by way of a message put together by Pellegrino himself:
“I would like to thank the whole institution for the trust placed in me and my staff to take on the challenge of this end of the season. Finally, we would like to thank our fans for the encouragement, support and respect”.
The Argentine, in the hours since, has already been linked with a move back to his home country, with Independiente.
