Max Eberl has responded to Lamine Yamal’s Ballon d’Or remarks, and put Michael Olise alongside Harry Kane in the conversation. Bayern’s sporting director weighed in as debate over the award continues.
“There has to be some campaigning, after all,” he told Sky Sports. “The best players are the ones who don’t need to run a campaign.”
“For me, Olise also belongs to the candidates for the Ballon d’Or. He is one of the best players in the world,” he added.
Olise and Kane helped Bayern to a 7-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday. Olise hit a hat-trick, taking home the match ball and the Man of the Match award.
Eberl’s intervention followed comments from 19-year-old Spaniard Lamine Yamal, who has been campaigning for himself with strong words seemingly directed at Kane.
