According to Het Nieuwsblad, Maxime Dupé is currently in talks with Nice about a return to Ligue 1. The 30-year-old goalkeeper was signed to be Anderlecht’s number one this season, but former Nice shot stopper Kasper Schmeichel was signed a few weeks later and has since become the main goalkeeper in Brussels. The 37-year-old Dane, who has attracted interest from Sheffield United, has started 14 games this season.
Dupé, on the other hand, started as the sides number one but was dropped after just seven matches. He joined the side in the summer on a free from Toulouse, where he had made 116 appearances. Anderlecht are his first side outside of France, having played for Nantes and Clermont Foot in the past. However, Anderlecht’s change of direction appears to have led Dupé to look for a way out this January. HNB are reporting that Nice were actually interested in Dupé over the summer, but opted for Salvatore Sirigu instead. Sirigu has since left for Turkey.
