Despite his heroics in the Coupe de France in midweek, Yehvann Diouf is expected to drop back to the bench when OGC Nice host Stade Rennais on Sunday afternoon.
Diouf saw the No.1 jersey snatched away by Maxime Dupé while he was at the Africa Cup of Nations, but given the chance to impress against FC Lorient in the cup in midweek, the Senegal international seized his chance, making the crucial save in the penalty shootout.
But it is Dupé who is expected to start against Rennes. Nice remain without several key players, even if the injury crisis has significantly abated. Ali Abdi, Moise Bombito, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Isak Jansson, and Elye Wahi are all out. The latter’s continued absence will likely see Kevin Carlos start up front.
