Manchester United Women star Maya Le Tissier achieved an outstanding milestone on Sunday.
The young centre-back joined the team in 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Guernsey native got off to the perfect start, scoring a brace on her debut against Reading in September 2022. Le Tissier’s influence in the team quickly grew, and she was named captain of the side in 2024 following the departure of Katie Zelem.
She was also part of this United side’s only trophy win to date, when they won the FA Cup in 2024 against Tottenham Hotspur.
In addition, she became the first United Women player to score a goal in the Champions League, when her penalty was enough to overcome Vålerenga in October.
Le Tissier has been a model of consistency over the years, and her confidence and ability make her seem much older than she actually is.
Despite being only 23 years old, she has played 188 times in her club career and made 12 appearances for England.
Of those matches, 113 have been for Manchester United. In fact, she is already sixth on the club’s all-time appearance list.
The weekend’s win over West Ham United also brought about an impressive statistic for Le Tissier. The club’s website announced that her start against the Hammers was her 100th consecutive for the side.
The defender is clearly much loved by her teammates and boss, Marc Skinner.
After the match at the weekend, Skinner commented, “she’s just an incredible human… she’s actually probably not human. She’s probably bionic, but she’s fantastic, great character.”
Le Tissier will surely make her 101st consecutive start for the Red Devils when they host Lyon in the Champions League this Wednesday in a crucial European tie.
