Real Madrid marked their season’s first outing at the Santiago Bernabéu with a Kylian Mbappé hat-trick and a Vinicius goal against a Real Sociedad side who remained competitive until the second strike.

Dumfries was diligent but at times exposed, while Konaté was booked for a foul on Barrenetxea and looked uncertain for Sucic’s goal. Huijsen led the build-up calmly. Brahim had a goal ruled out for an earlier offside by Espí, Camavinga was cautioned for an elbow, and late cameos for Diomande and Espí saw the latter go close but offside.
