McTominay undergoes successful heart procedure, out for two weeks | OneFootball

Napoli have confirmed Scott McTominay has undergone a successful ablation to treat a mild benign arrhythmia, carried out on Tuesday morning at Spire Manchester Hospital. The club said in a statement that he will rest for two weeks, then resume training.

The 29-year-old travelled to Manchester for the planned procedure, easing concerns after his recent omission from squads.

McTominay has stressed it was a proactive step agreed with the club over time, not an emergency.

The timing hampers Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the short term. He watched the 3-2 defeat at Inter last Saturday and is set to miss at least three more games, including a Champions League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Scotland will also be without their midfielder as Sebastien Pocognoli begins his reign. He is unavailable for four Nations League fixtures between 26 September and 6 October.

His longer-term position at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona remains a talking point. He is contracted until 2028, and sporting director Giovanni Manna said the player does not yet know if he will renew, that both sides want to, and that making everything coincide is not always easy, but they are trying.
