Memphis has turned a short build-up into a run of games for Corinthians since returning to Brazil, though he is still regaining sharpness.
Globo.com reports that he stepped up again after signing on 18 August. Since then he has trained fully nine times, played four matches, produced one Conmebol Libertadores last-16 assist and totalled 250 minutes, averaging 62.5 minutes.
He says he feels fine physically but, only a fortnight in, must respect his body's process. He added the schedule was not normal and, while he expects a lot of himself, he has to be patient.
He last played four in a row in February, beating Flamengo in the Supercopa Rei final then facing Capivariano, Palmeiras and Red Bull Bragantino. In March he sustained a grade two injury to his right thigh versus Flamengo at Neo Química Arena, later worsened by a staff error during a gym drill.
He returned on 24 May and went to the World Cup, but short of rhythm stayed mostly on the bench as the Netherlands fell to Morocco. Plans for a pre-season with Corinthians faded as renewal talks dragged on.
Club medicals on his return were positive, but the issue is minutes rather than fitness as he chases intensity, confidence and chemistry with Kaio César, Pedro Raul and Allan, saying he can help more at 100% yet needs service into one v one and shooting positions.
Corinthians visit Estudiantes in Argentina on Wednesday at 21:30 Brasilia time in the Conmebol Libertadores quarter-final first leg.
