Corinthians have begun preparations for Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg away to Estudiantes, with kick-off at 21:30 at the Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata.
According to Meu Timao, the squad were split into two groups at CT Joaquim Grava on Monday morning. Players who logged more than 45 minutes in Sunday’s match did indoor recovery work. The rest went outside for a team game after strength work in the gym.
The squad travel this afternoon to Argentina and will train on Tuesday at Defensa y Justicia’s facilities. It will be their only session in the country before the match.
The main absentee remains striker Yuri Alberto, who suffered a setback in his recovery from a right hamstring injury last week. He will not be in the squad and will continue rehabilitation at CT Joaquim Grava.
Midfielder André Luiz, centre-back André Ramalho and forward Vitinho are still not expected to be available. They are respectively dealing with a grade 2 left hamstring injury, a return to partial training after labyrinthitis, and a transition phase after surgery on the meniscus of his left knee. Zakaria Labyad and Kayke are out for the season.
Progress past Rosario Central has been overshadowed by a poor Brasileirão run. Sunday’s home reverse to Chapecoense made it four league defeats in a row, three at Neo Química Arena, equalling the club’s worst sequence since 2007.
