According to L'Équipe, the Netherlands named their 26-man World Cup squad on Wednesday for 11 June-19 July. Memphis Depay and Jurriën Timber are included after injury, while Jeremy Frimpong is left out.

Ronald Koeman had said he would only pick Depay if he was fit and had played before the tournament. The 32-year-old returned in time, playing around half an hour for Corinthians in a 1-0 win over Atlético Mineiro at the weekend.

Jurriën Timber, sidelined with an ankle issue since mid-March, is progressing and could even be available for the Champions League final against PSG. He is selected alongside his brother Quinten Timber of OM and Justin Kluivert of Bournemouth.

The spine of the squad is present, from Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong to Denzel Dumfries and Tijjani Reijnders. Notable omissions include Xavi Simons of Tottenham and Matthijs De Ligt of Manchester United, with Inter Milan’s Stefan De Vrij also ruled out after an injury at the weekend. Emmanuel Emegha of Strasbourg and former Lille defender Sven Botman of Newcastle miss out too.

The Netherlands are in Group F with Japan, Sweden and Tunisia.
