Memphis will not travel with Corinthians to Argentina for the first leg of their Libertadores last-16 tie against Rosario Central, with his contract renewal still unsigned.

According to Globo.com, club figures are seeking corporate backing to help fund the new deal, and his representatives maintain an agreement has been in place since 26 July with a final draft awaiting signature for three days after he passed his medical. The squad are set to fly on Tuesday afternoon without the forward.

He has been in Brazil for a week and was not at CT Joaquim Grava on Tuesday. Fernando Diniz and the football department had hoped to have him available for the start of the knockouts.

The drawn-out renewal still has no conclusion. The club president visited the training ground on Tuesday but has yet to decide whether to sign the new deal.

Should the contract be signed, Memphis would still need his Brazilian work visa regularised and to be registered on the CBF’s BID. He is already registered for the Libertadores.

In Rosario, Corinthians will train at Newell's Old Boys' training centre on Wednesday in their final session before the tie. They face Rosario Central on Thursday at 21h30 (de Brasília) at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito. The return is on 20 August at the same time at Neo Química Arena.
