According to Inter Miami, captain Leo Messi and defender Gonzalo Luján have been named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday, presented by Audi, for week five of the 2026 regular season. The recognition followed a 2-3 victory away to New York City FC on Sunday.
Luján opened the scoring in the fourth minute, the first goal of his career.

Messi then scored Inter Miami's second with a free kick and was busy in attack, recording four shots on target and striking the woodwork twice.
It is Messi's second Team of the Matchday selection this regular season.
Luján's recognition is his first of the campaign.
