The club announced on Tuesday that new head coach Luc Holtz’s backroom team for next season is in place.

Holtz, 57, will be assisted by compatriot Mario Mutsch, 41, who worked with him across six years in charge of Luxembourg from 2019 to 2025. Mutsch is also a former Metz midfielder from 2009 to 2011.

German coach Yannick Kakoko joins as the second assistant. A Metz academy product from 2004 to 2006, he has two coaching stints in Luxembourg.

Relegated as Ligue 1’s bottom club last season, Metz have also created a performance unit headed by former assistant Hugues Prevost, 36. Fitness work will be overseen by Senegalese coach Mathurin Dionou, 41, newly arrived from Académie Génération Foot. Goalkeeping coach Christophe Marichez, at the club since 2005 and in the role since 2012, stays on.

Video analysis will be handled by 19-year-old Léo Gilli, formerly at Pau, and Andreas Simatos, 26, who interned at Metz last season and previously worked at Lens. Gilli is the son of Stéphane Gilli, the new Angers coach who led Paris FC in 2025-2026.
