Mexico and United States lead the way in Groups A and C

MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continued Wednesday with the second set of matches in Groups A and C.

Group A action saw Mexico earn a win against Costa Rica, while Haiti defeated Bermuda. Group C continued with the United States coming out on top against Honduras, while El Salvador secured a win against Trinidad and Tobago.

Group A

Bermuda 1, Haiti 4

The day opened with Haiti earning a 4-1 win over Bermuda at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico.

Haiti found an early lead in the 14’ through Ella Etienne, who converted from the penalty spot to open the scoring.

Dominique Desert, with a header inside the penalty area in the 17’, and Etienne, who secured her brace in the 28’ with a finish to the far post, extended the lead for Les Grenadières.

Goalkeeper Kalea Tranchant was shown a red card in the 38’ for a foul outside the box and Haiti had to carry on the remainder of a match down a player.

Maya Piquion converted a second penalty for Haiti in the match in the 82’.

Nila Samuels shortened the deficit for Bermuda in the 90+4’ with a strike from long distance.

Costa Rica 0, Mexico 4

The second match of the day in Group A saw Mexico defeat Costa Rica 4-nil to climb up to first place in the group at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico.

Two goals in quick succession in the 28’ and 31’ minutes saw Mexico take the lead. Citlalli Reyes converted from the penalty spot for the breakthrough goal, followed by a powerful left-footed finish to the ceiling of the goal from Joselyn Solis.

Dafne Sánchez extended the lead for El Tricolor in the 45+1’, scoring a stunner with a hit from outside the box to the top right corner.

Reyes rounded out the win for Mexico in the 78’ converting once again from the penalty spot for her second goal of the game.

Group C

Honduras 0, United States 7

Group C action on the day opened with the United States earning a 7-nil win against Honduras to defend its group lead at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

Kimmi Ascanio opened the scoring in the 45’ to give USA the lead right before the half, finding the back of the net with a finish from the center of the box.

USA then scored five in the opening 20 minutes of the second half to extend its lead, with Micayla Johnson scoring in the 47’, Ashlyn Anderson in the 51’, Pearl Cecil in the 56’, Riley Kennedy in the 60’ and Jaiden Rodríguez adding a long-range stunner in the 65’.

Anderson closed out the result with a tap in in the 74’ to tally her second goal of the game.

Trinidad and Tobago 0, El Salvador 4

El Salvador closed out the day defeating Trinidad and Tobago 4-nil to climb up to second place in Group B at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

Abigail Salgado found the opener for El Salvador in the 58’ through a wonder strike, burying the ball in the left side netting with a curler from outside of the box.

Maya Buerger extended La Selecta’s lead in the 61’ with a grounded finish to the near post from the center of the penalty area.

Angie Alvarenga then struck twice in the 86’ and 90’ to secure the result for El Salvador. Her first goal came from a free kick opportunity and her second was a long distance hit to the top right corner.
