Man United interim boss Michael Carrick is relishing a reunion with Thomas Frank ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Spurs.

Carrick will face Frank, whom he interviewed five months ago ahead of Spurs’ first Champions League fixture.

The 44-year-old is off to a flying start as Manchester United boss, having won his first three matches against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham.

“The three wins have been fantastic, so we feel confident we have got a lot of growth in the team, and the squad, but it’s coming from a good place,” said Carrick.

If Manchester United defeat Tottenham tomorrow, Michael Carrick will become just the third manager in the club’s history to win his first four matches in charge, joining Sir Matt Busby and Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Reflecting on his Amazon Prime interview with Frank in September, he said: “I enjoyed it. We got on well, it’s the first time ive met him properly.

“We had a good chat just about general kind of football things. A little bit on processes and ideas a little bit.

“He was really accommodating. I enjoyed it so it will be nice to see him again.”

Carrick previously played for Tottenham Hotspur, joining the club in 2004 on a four-year deal from West Ham United, before signing for Manchester United in 2006.

During his time at United, he made more than 50 appearances.

“I’ve got fond memories of Tottenham and being at the club, I was there for a short time,” explained Carrick.

“I enjoyed it, we had a good team but coming here was a big jump at the time. I certainly felt that pretty quickly and once you step inside this place as a footballer, it turns you.”

United haven’t beaten Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford since 2022 under Erik ten Hag, and Carrick is aware of the threat they poise.

“They certainly bring a challenge. You can see the way they finished the game against Manchester City the other day.

“They have had a lot of players injured and ins and outs, and a lot of challenges to the team which makes things a lot more challenging.

“They have got good attackers who look to stretch the backline and play forward and attack the box an awful lot.

“It is something we are aware of; a slightly different game to what we have played in recent weeks.

“We have a big challenge ahead, but we’re looking forward to it.”
