Michael Olise will remain at Bayern Munich this summer despite attention from Europe’s elite, and he is under contract until 2029. The 24-year-old France forward has 17 caps and 7 goals.
According to L'Équipe, only an outlandish bid would change Bayern’s stance, and after the World Cup he is set to continue a Bayern spell that began two years ago. Europe’s heavyweights are circling nonetheless.
Real Madrid had tracked him before facing Bayern in the Champions League quarter-finals, 1-2 and 3-4 on 7 and 15 April, and were dazzled by his right-sided displays. Spanish media are awaiting any word from Florentino Pérez after his re-election, but there has been none so far. Madrid have instead seen a €150m bid for Julian Alvarez, the Atlético de Madrid striker, rejected.
Inside Bayern, figures have dismissed the idea of a sale, with €200m, and even €500m, described as insufficient. That leaves only a tiny pool of clubs who could try, such as Manchester City or PSG.
A return to City, whose academy he joined in 2016-2017, is not thought to be in the player’s plans. PSG admire him and have tested the market, yet the era of paying more than €200m for one player appears to have passed, even if they could afford it.
Deals between Paris and Bayern are notoriously difficult. Since 2011, only Juan Bernat and Lucas Hernandez have moved from Munich to the Parc des Princes after tough negotiations. Bayern intend to propose a two-year extension to 2031 this autumn and to double his salary, though whether that will deter suitors in a year remains unclear.
