Santos' plan to bring back Lucas Veríssimo has been disrupted by the Middle East conflict, leaving the defender without a reporting date.

According to Globo.com, attacks on United States bases in Qatar after last week's outbreak led the country to shut its airspace for security, with no commercial or private flights currently available. There is a chance he could travel on Saturday, but the outlook is pessimistic and the flight is likely to be cancelled in the coming days.

With paperwork completed and Veríssimo already announced, Santos are waiting for a lull in hostilities that would allow his journey.

The club have breathing space in the schedule, returning on 10 to face Mirassol away in round five of the Brasileirão.

Veríssimo has played in Qatar since 2024, leaving Corinthians for Al-Duhail, and he is on loan at Al-Wakrah this year.

The conflict, sparked by advances by the United States and Israel in Iran, has killed more than 1,000 people in the country, according to Iranian state media. It began on 28 and reached its fifth day on Wednesday.
