It seems all but certain that Miguel Herrera will be the new manager at Tigres next season.
Several reports in Mexico indicate that ‘El Piojo’ has already held talks to take over from Ricardo Ferretti, who himself is linked with replacing Víctor Manuel Vucetich at Chivas.
Herrera has not taken a new position since being sacked by América last December.
While the temperamental 53-year-old divided opinion among the Azulcrema’s fanbase, he was popular among the playing staff during his time at the Estadio Azteca.
As such, it is understood that Herrera may look to raid his former club should he take the reins at Los Auriazules.
Tigres are enduring a poor Guard1anes 2021 campaign, and currently occupy the 12th and final play-off spot in the table.
That would not be good enough for a coach with then past experience and success of Herrera.
While América are flying high under Santiago Solari, there are some players who may be unhappy with their playing time and would be tempted by the promise of more regular minutes at the Estadio Universitario.
They include attackers Federico Viñas, Leonardo Suárez, Nicolás Benedetti and Sergio Díaz, along with midfielder Alan Medina (who is on loan from Toluca).
