Milan and Porto will return to the negotiating table on Monday over Santiago Gimenez, with a meeting between the two clubs already arranged.
According to Matteo Moretto, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, both sides took a few days to reflect before agreeing to resume discussions.
Porto had finally tabled an official offer after completing the sale of Rodrigo Mora to Roma: a loan with an option to buy at €15m, convertible into an obligation on conditions tied to the Mexico striker’s goals and appearances. Milan rejected it outright, deeming the figure insufficient.

The objection was to the money rather than the structure, which leaves Porto room to return with an improved package on Monday without reworking the framework of the deal.
Gimenez is fit again, having recovered from the ankle injury he sustained at the World Cup, and has been training away from the main group while the clubs work towards an agreement. He was not named in the squad for Sunday’s meeting with Torino.
Milan have also freed up his shirt number, with the No 7 now unassigned at San Siro, a clear enough indication of how the club expect this to end.
