Milan consider renaming San Siro’s Curva Sud after Franco Baresi | OneFootball

Serie A side Milan lost a calcio icon in Franco Baresi earlier this week and the club is now considering naming the San Siro’s Curva Sud after the late, great defender.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the idea is being strongly considered and it first gained root on Friday. They are evaluating the possibility of renaming the Curva Sud after Baresi and could also name a stand in the upcoming stadium after the icon. This would also find favours with Inter, who are unlikely to have any reservations about the decision.

There is also the possibility of renaming the training ground at Milanello after Baresi. There are those who point to Vismara, where the youth teams train, so that Baresi’s name can serve as an example for future generations.

Decision backed by everyone

Baresi’s contributions to Milan and the Italian game deserve nothing less. Future generations that represent the Rossoneri bear the responsibility of making the legend proud and carry his legacy forward. He should always be remembered and this move is something that should be seriously considered by the club.
