Milan face one last obstacle to extend Maignan’s contract | OneFootball

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mike Maignan has agreed to extend his contract with Milan, so the Rossoneri are now negotiating over agent fees before putting pen to paper on a new deal until 2030.

Maignan is ‘as close as ever’ to extending his stay at Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Pink Paper claims that the experienced goalkeeper has agreed to sign a new deal worth €5m per season plus add-ons until 2030. The French goalkeeper currently gets €2.8m per season, and his agreement at San Siro runs out this coming June.

With his new deal, Maignan would become the highest-paid player in the team alongside Rafael Leao.

Maignan has played a key role at Milan this season, having conceded just 17 goals in 21 games across all competitions, keeping 10 clean sheets and saving two penalties.

Agent commissions reportedly remain the only unresolved issue for the Rossoneri. Milan’s directors are aware that Maignan’s camp would receive a sizeable fee should he depart as a free agent in June, making negotiations with his representatives essential.

According to Gazzetta, the two parties are on good terms and once the agreement is reached, the goalkeeper will put pen to paper on a new contract at San Siro.

As already reported by Football Italia in December, Massimiliano Allegri played a key role in convincing Maignan to stay at Milan, and now the Rossoneri have one final step to make.
