Gazzetta reports that Milan made contact with Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini on deadline day and followed Ruben Amorim’s plan across the summer, with Konstantinos Karetsas the only major target they failed to land.
Talks with Scalvini’s entourage took place on Tuesday, and Milan were told Atalanta would not even enter discussions below €40m.
No defensive signing arrived on the final day, which prompted Fikayo Tomori’s return to the team after he had been frozen out.
The report added that this transfer strategy aligned closely with Amorim’s demands, a departure from recent windows under RedBird and Elliott.
Amorim wanted a left-footed attacking midfielder rather than a pure winger, and after Karetsas joined Borussia Dortmund, Milan signed Omari Hutchinson on loan from Nottingham Forest, with an option to buy.
